Hosting Comparisons
The content on this page is to explain to you why we believe we stand out above all other construction industry and other web hosts. Click on the blue titles below for information, Pros, Cons and Comments. Pros: Cons: Without an eye for design layout, it will look like a cheep site lots of templates to choose from, none that are really you Help from some technical guru (understanding of his/her understand is required) Most of the navigation is one level deep, not a lot of room for more pages, most likely will cost more for more pages Limited pages, email accounts, disk space and band width - unless you pay more Support will only tell you how to do something in the editor, but will never actually do something for you - you are on your own there!
Comments: If you don't care that much about competing on the Internet, or dynamic interactive content, adding and removing listings and projects, search-able homes for sale and plans, client login areas to project content, like photos, documents and selections, or anything else that sets new websites apart from the sites of old, and you also do not mind prospective home buyers visiting your site for 2 minutes and never returning, and you like the idea of having to learn the software before you get your site running and adding all the content yourself, then this is a highly recommended way to go. (Highly sarcastic, all true)
Pros: - Typically less expensive than custom design house hosts
Easy navigation because there isn't much to navigate
Cons: A little higher monthly hosting fee Not that great looking for a so called builder web site - Not! Nothing they offer is really builder specific, builder or not, you get the same pages, home, about us, history, contact us, maybe a photo gallery Some meetings to learn about your company so they can add your content Every change to content is done by the designer and billed to you Locked in design because each site is coded around the pages None or little file access. If you want to add a brochure to your site, call them, they will do it for you (typically not for free) Ownership rights. If you want to move to someone else, you may not be able to take your site files without a fee Limited pages, email accounts, disk space and band width - unless you pay more In 1 year when you realize it's old technology, because it is old technology, they will be happy to build you a new web site - (hopefully they will have invested in some new ideas)
Comments: If you have $350 to $2,000 to spend, and you don't mind paying for each additional page you add, and you're ok with the "look" of the site, and you realize that your web site is really nothing more than a typical site with very few features, then like the do-it-yourself web site, this is a little less money, and they do build it for you and add your content - so that's good news.
Pros: - Typically give a very professional presence on the web
Some company's pay attention to navigation quite well‡
Cons: Typically very expensive Higher monthly hosting fees Necessary long meetings to learn about your company so they can add your content Every change to content is done by the designer and billed to you Locked in design because each site is coded around the pages None or little file access. If you want to add a brochure to your site, call them, they will do it for you (typically not for free) Ownership rights. If you want to move to someone else, you may not be able to take your site files without a fee Limited pages, email accounts, disk space and band width - unless you pay more In 5 years when it's old, they will be happy to build you a new web site
Comments: If you have $5,000 to $50,000 to spend, you will have a great "looking" web site. Some times that is all you need, a professional presence, some nice photos and a phone number. There are many beautiful builder sites on the Internet that I am envious of. There are some really creative and talented, even artistically gifted people designing web sites. Many of the do-it-yourself website hosts have really caused people to question the expense of these design house hosting company's. But, the do-it-yourself websites will never hold a candle to a custom, professionally designed web site.
Pros: - Typically give a very professional presence on the web
Some company's pay attention to navigation quite well‡ Many added dynamic features to filter through listings and more Back-end administration control panels to add home listing content
Cons: Typically very expensive High monthly hosting and/or maintenance fees Necessary long meetings to learn about your company so they can add your content Every change to content is done by the designer and billed to you Locked in design because each site is coded around the pages None or little file access. If you want to add a brochure to your site, call them, they will do it for you (typically not for free) Ownership rights. If you want to move to someone else, you may not be able to take your site files without a fee Getting the database working again may take time if you move your site Limited pages, email accounts, disk space and band width - unless you pay more In 5 years when it's old, they will be happy to build you a new web site (definitely not for free)
Comments: If you have $5,000 to $50,000 to spend, you will have a great looking and dynamic web site. This is not a bad way to go if you have the money. There are some really nice sites with powerful database driven features that are impressive and specifically for production builders. These sites will also keep the attention of your site visitor, and they will return. The navigation is still a problem with most of these dynamic sites that take people further in and around the content.†
Pros: - Custom designed web site just for you
- We give you a very professional presence on the web
We pay close attention to navigation † Many added dynamic features to filter through listings and more Complete index library of house plans included Back-end administration control panels to add home listing content Builder/Supplier/Customer login to the Plan Center, documents, photos, selections and more Project bidding system built into your projects and listings No meetings are necessary if you do not have content, we will add the content for you System continually upgraded, we do everything for you Continually upgrading and adding new systems to help you run your projects Easily change the look of your site without effecting content Only a one time setup fee of $150.00 Low hosting fee of only $24.95 per month, never changes Complete access to your site content and files, photos and documents. Login anytime. Unlimited everything, web pages, email accounts, disk space, band width, everything If you are unhappy with our services, the files are yours - no questions
Cons: Comments: If you have $150 to spend to get your company on the web, or upgrade and old site, is there really any questions about how we are approaching the relationship for web hosting? Our approach is to offer beautiful custom web design, enter the content for you, and then show you a few simple steps to updating your web site when ever you like. Add the pages you need as your company grows and changes.
† Our Navigation Standards - For many years I had a programmer that would fight me because I wanted to add more buttons, links, whatever to my pages because I wanted to make sure that my site visitors could stay focused and navigate to the next item, subject and back without any hesitation, just naturally moving around - frustration free. I do not have to go far within my own family or friends to find people tell me about their frustration in getting around the web. Navigation is not just moving forward and back again, it has to do with every area that will take a person to new and more content. It is completely fine to give a number of different ways to get to the same or similar content. Even our administration panel is based on the standard Windows XP theme, because that is something people already know. ‡ Others Navigation - Many highly technical people have left long ago the understanding of how many new computer users get around the web, and the frustration they cause because they are failing to accommodate these users. I have talked to numerous people who did not know what the back button was or where it is located. Have you navigated into a page with no direction to go forward or back. What do you do? Leave and never come back out of frustration! ** I have commented on several hosting type company's; I know that I have not covered every company or type of company, and there are some great web hosting company's that would do a great job for you. Nevertheless, I have explored everything that is going on in this market, and I believe the way we are approaching this service is the best for both of us. We are setting you up with a custom designed website, then giving you the tools to change and update it when ever you like, and then helping you when ever you need help. I just don't know how to make it any better, but I am always open to hear anyones comments.
